May 13Final grades have been entered into SIS and should be available within 24 hours. We will not be returning the final exams, but if you'd like to look over your graded exam or get your notes sheets back, please make an appointment with Professor Cutler. Have a great summer break!
May 8We've had a number of people asking... Yes, we will use grade modifiers (A, A-, B+, B, etc.) in assigning the final grades. And no, we cannot tell you what score you need on the final to get a particular grade because the final exam will be curved, similar to the tests. The final grades will also be curved.
May 7Solutions for the final exam review problems have been posted on the calendar.
May 2Checkpoints 1, 2, & 3 for lab 14 have been posted on the calendar.
Apr 28Final exam review problems have been posted on the calendar. The solutions will be posted in about a week.
Apr 28The review office hours on May 8 and May 9 will be held in Lally 102.
Apr 27 No regular office hours will be held after Wednesday May 3. There will be two review office hours on Monday May 8 and Tuesday May 9 from 5-7pm. Location TBD. TAs will be available for the entire two hours for questions on exam practice problems and on any other subjects from the semester.
Apr 25 Please check your final exam schedule. If you have a conflict for the CS2 final, please read and follow the rules on conflict exams. Send Prof Cutler email ASAP if you need to take a makeup exam and contact the Dean of Students Office if necessary for excused absenses.
Apr 20Course Evaluation forms will be distributed in lecture on Tuesday April 25th. Bring a #2 pencil.
Apr 17Checkpoints 1 & 2 for lab 12 have been posted on the calendar.
Apr 15Bettina will not have office hours on Monday, April 17 or Thursday, April 20.
Apr 13HW8 has been posted on the calendar. It is due Thursday Apr 27th @ 11:59pm. Note: This is a 2 week assignment. It should require significantly less coding than HW7, but dealing with pointers and memory allocation can be tricky. Please start early.
Apr 13Juda will not be having office hours tomorrow, Friday April 14, due to the upcoming holiday.
Apr 12Graded Tests were handed back in lab. Stats for the exam: Max=98, Min=7, Average=66, Standard Deviation=18. Approximate grades: 78&up=A, 68&up=B, 50&up=C, 40&up=D. All re-grade requests must be submitted within 7 days. Your entire test will be examined and your score may go up or down. Please thank all of your TAs for their extra effort Tuesday afternoon and evening to get the tests graded this quickly.
Apr 4The grade sheet for homework 7 has been posted on the calendar (student request).
Mar 30Here's the information about the Games Festival (4/28) & Games Symposium (4/29) that was advertised during lecture.
Mar 28The movies.txt file for HW7 has been updated to replace some non-ASCII characters. Please download the new file if these characters are causing a problem. Also, the comment in the assignment about the "...." separating actor name from character name is irrelevant for the sample input files. There are some movies in IMDB that do not have character names for all actors and if you include those movies in your new test case(s) you will need to handle actors without characters.
Mar 28Checkpoints 1 & 2 for lab 10 have been posted on the calendar.
Mar 24HW7 has been posted on the calendar. It is due Thursday Apr 6th @ 11:59pm. Note: This is the first 2 week assignment. You have lots of design and implementation work to do. Please start early.
Mar 22Roopa's office hours this Thursday, March 23, will be from 3:30 - 5pm (instead of the usual 4 - 5:30pm).
Mar 16If you are using Visual Studio 6 and having trouble getting simple examples of maps to compile & run, try adding this line to the top of your file:
#pragma warning( disable : 4786 )
If this doesn't help, please contact a TA for assistance.
Mar 9HW6 has been posted on the calendar. It is due Thursday Mar 23nd @ 11:59pm.
Mar 8Both Roopa and Bettina will not have office hours on Thursday, March 9.
Mar 8Graded Tests will be handed back in lab. Note: This test was very long and quite difficult. We are pleased with the overall performance of the class. Have a relaxing Spring Break, you've earned it! Stats for the exam: Max=96, Min=12, Average=61, Standard Deviation=17. Approximate grades: 75&up=A, 61&up=B, 47&up=C, 37&up=D. All re-grade requests must be submitted within 7 academic days (by March 22nd). Your entire test will be examined and your score may go up or down. Please thank all of your TAs for their extra effort Tuesday afternoon and evening to get the tests graded this quickly.
Mar 8Here are some additional statistics to help you gauge your performance in CS2: HW1 average=43, HW2 average=38, HW3 average=40, HW4 average=44, Labs 1-7 average=2.5 checkpoints.
Mar 7Checkpoints 1, 2, & 3 for Lab 8 have been posted on the calendar.
Feb 28Note for HW5: Please use the provided template for your README.txt file. This will make it easier for the TAs to grade. Thank you!
Feb 28IMPORTANT Note for HW5: Your solution for HW5 should solve puzzles 1-5 in a reasonable amount of time (no more than a few minutes). The last 3 puzzles are much more difficult and to solve them (for extra credit!) you will need to think carefully about your algorithm.
