Orbix

Orbix is a commercial implementation of the CORBA standard. It is a product of Iona Technologies for which we have a software license on CSLab Sun Unix machines.1 It lives on CSLab servers at /usr/local/iona. It provides bindings to C++ and Java. Detailed Programmer's Guide and Programmer's Reference manuals are provided in /usr/local/iona/Orbix_2.3c/doc. [Note: don't attempt to print out either of these in its entirety unless you have your own printer and paper--each manual is over 400 pages long. In any case you should wait until we do some checking whether a newer version is available.] There is also an Administrator's Guide on the server.

IDL and code files for some of the examples discussed in the Programmer's Guide are included in /usr/local/iona/Orbix_2.3c/demo.

The Java binding is provided by OrbixWeb. For further information follow the Orbix link on Alan Bivens' web page.
